With less than two and a half weeks to go in this term, I am very proud of the attendance statistics of our students. Well done to you all. Coming to school every day is important. Just ONE day off a week can be the equivalent to missing over 2 years of schooling over their schooling life. What are the benefits for students who attend each day?
- Feel connected to their school and have a sense of belonging
- Build confidence, because they can build on prior learning instead of having to catch up all the time
- Feel stronger because of friendships made
- Gives them every opportunity to be the best they can be
- Don’t miss out on wonderful opportunities
A reminder to our families about the importance of wearing school uniforms. Our uniform shop does a great job in keeping the costs down compared to other school uniforms. A child has a real sense of belonging when they are in a school uniform. They feel part of the school. I understand some families might get frustrated when uniforms are lost repeatedly, but every child should be in school uniform. I think I’ve bought at least 2 jumpers already for my son this year, so I do get it!
If you need some assistance to purchase uniforms, please let me know.
Assembly Week 9
I am pleased to announce the return of parents and carers to our assemblies. The next assembly is on Friday 26 June and will be hosted by the Year 2 class. We are still limited to 300 people attending at one time, so I ask that only parents and carers of students in Year 2 or are receiving a Successful Student Award attend. Please only 2 attendees per family. Hopefully in the near future, we can return to normal arrangements. Thank you for your understanding
Are you a concreter or landscape gardener? We could really use your help! Please contact me for a 5 minute chat to talk about what we would like done.
Cultural and Diversity Celebration Week
During week 9, we are planning on having a week’s worth of activities to celebrate our school’s cultural diversity. More information will come home to all families shortly and we would love to have some parent participation where possible.
Waste Wise Week
During week 10, all students will be participating in waste wise activities. Our plan in the future is to introduce more recycling and sustainability projects including a community garden with worm farms and composting. This will be our start! More information will be sent home with students closer to the date.
Student Leadership Project
Our year 6 student leaders have come up with a project they have nicknamed Operation Booty. Soon, they will be asking for families to donate old football boots or sneakers so that they can send them to a kids in a remote town or community. Very exciting and l look forward to seeing the project in action.
Kids Academy- Out of School Care
We are very fortunate to have an onsite before and after school care provider, which really helps some of our families out. The numbers of children attending are very low at the moment. I am bringing this to your attention because if we don’t have families utilising the service, it may not be able to stay operating in the future.
