Our School - Chaplain

Chaplaincy has been running for many years at Marangaroo Primary.   Our current Chaplain - Mr Joshua Booysen commenced in 2017 Term 3.

A Chaplain's main role is to provide pastoral care and support to the staff, students and families associated with the school. This may involve one-on-one appointments with students as recommended by staff and parents; presenting Values lessons in classes; coordinating lunch time programs and activities; liaising with volunteers from the community who run programs and activities; and putting families in contact with external agencies to help deal with specific issues.

Values lessons are presented in class at the request of the class teacher. These lessons are designed to promote Marangaroo Primary School Values, and include lessons promoting positive self Esteem and self Worth; friendship; dealing with conflict; respect; empathy; anger and impulse management. Students are engaged through group activities, worksheets, and class discussion.
We have volunteers from the community who run the "Good News Club" (formerly J-Club) for years Pre-primary to 6 at lunchtimes on Thursday. These are Christian based programs which students may attend with written permission from parents.  Permission slips and further information available from the office.
